US News selects Cellhire as its provider of mobile phones for G8 Summit

New York, NY, March 9, 2004 –, an informational website for G8 Summit attendees, has selected Cellhire USA to provide mobile phone rental service for the event taking place in June on Sea Island off the coast of Georgia, US.

Due to the varying technologies between countries and lack of roaming for many US wireless carriers, the majority of visitors to Sea Island will be unable to use their own mobile phone during their visit. By renting a phone from Cellhire, members can rest assured that they will stay in touch with family, colleagues and each other with no hassle. Attendees will also save money with reduced special event rates.

The G8 Summit, an annual event that brings together the President of the United States and 7 other international leaders to discuss current and world economic issues in an informal manner, takes place this year at Sea Island. This five-mile-long island is one of several private, resort islands off the coast of Georgia. It is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the east and separated from St. Simons Island by wide salt marshes on the west. It lies halfway between Savannah, Georgia and Jacksonville, Florida and is a one-hour drive from both cities’ international airports. The website,, provides useful local area information on attractions, accommodations, dining, shopping and recreational activities.
