Cellhire ‘On the Mark’ to deliver a win at the summer games

Cellhire a global leader in international mobile communications, has partnered with China Mobile® to bring phone rentals to athletes, families, media and support staff traveling to the summer games in Beijing. In addition to voice solutions, Cellhire is also providing data offerings including BlackBerry® devices and USB data cards. Bundle minute packages are also available.

Among the first to establish a direct reseller relationship with China Mobile, Cellhire offers customers reliable China-wide coverage. The company has also announced the opening of a new Beijing location. This office is able to provide local support and address needs quickly and efficiently.

Cellhire has over 8,000 phones specifically set up for the Chinese market. They include exclusive mobile software featuring a handy Beijing city guide, information on stadiums and venues as well as restaurants and local tourist attractions. To help overcome language barriers, handsets will be able to speak over 300 useful phrases in the local dialect, and have access to 24/7 ‘real time’ interpretation services. The event guide is considered key to Cellhire’s success moving forward. The first version of the mobile guide recently debuted at the 2008 Cannes International Film Festival.

To avoid costly phone charges when far from home, it’s important for travelers to take a few minutes and sign up for a phone and international calling plan that’s right for them. A visitor in China for two weeks using a rented Cellhire phone just 30 minutes a day would save close to $500. To top it off, there is no minimum call spend and English voicemail activation is available upon arrival in China.

Cellhire specializes in supporting major events, and recently broke a world record for the number of rental handsets deployed at any one time. The company anticipates breaking its own record again before the summer is out, owing to its involvement in a number of significant events: 2008 Cannes International Film Festival, UEFA EURO 2008, 2008 Tour de France, G8 Summit and the Beijing 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Cellhire is focused on meeting the growing demand for short term cell phone rentals in a global market where customers travel internationally for both business and leisure. Evaluation on a ‘try-before-you-buy’ basis is available with no long term contractual tie-ins. Customers merely rent the appropriate equipment for their chosen time frame, ranging from several days to months.

Cellhire’s relationship with China Mobile is for an initial period of 12 months covering the entire summer games period (Aug. 8 through Aug. 24) and beyond.
